Providing distributed renewable energy via solar hybrid minigrid solutions

Prado Power Limited (the “Company”) is a renewable energy company founded in 2014 to provide electricity access to unserved and underserved communities in Nigeria. The Company also provides Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) and consultancy services on renewable energy projects.

Project Highlight

Prado Power Limited, through a special purpose company, is looking to develop and operate hybrid solar mini grids across four (4) communities (or sites) with a total Solar PV capacity of 850 kWp to serve up to 15,801 connections in Benue and Akwa-Ibom States. In addition to the provision of power to the communities, the Company has identified productive use activities (including threshing, hammer milling, dehusking, etc.) within these communities which would drive the demand for the power generated and is seeking to invest in the required productive use capex.

Billion Naira

Prado Power delivers 850kWp of solar energy across four rural communities, bringing clean, reliable, and affordable electricity to households, businesses, and institutions.
The project supports Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) by creating 242 jobs across both the construction and operational phases of the solar mini-grids. It enables small businesses and informal enterprises in off-grid communities to operate more efficiently and extend their hours of service. Access to reliable electricity reduces operational costs and improves productivity, fostering economic participation and supporting the growth of local economies.
Through the development of decentralized solar mini-grids and accompanying distribution systems, the project strengthens local infrastructure and enhances energy reliability in off-grid communities. It promotes scalable, innovative energy solutions that improve service delivery and enable long-term industrial and economic growth in underserved areas.
The project directly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to cleaner air quality by introducing cleaner, alternative energy sources. It is in alignment with national and global climate goals by promoting renewable energy adoption and advancing a low-carbon development approach to rural electrification.
