InfraCredit Appoints Ms. Abimbola Sulaiman and Mr. Michael Nzewi as Non-Executive Directors

  • August 5, 2026

Lagos, Nigeria | 5, August 2026 – InfraCredit, a ‘AAA’ rated specialised infrastructure credit guarantee institution, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Abimbola Sulaiman and Mr. Michael Nzewi to its Board as Non-Executive Directors.

Ms. Sulaiman is an accomplished Africa-focused investment and finance executive with over 20 years of experience spanning local, regional and global organisations. She currently serves as Executive Director at Access ARM Pensions Limited, one of Nigeria’s leading pension fund administrators overseeing over ₦4 trillion in Assets under Management.

She chaired the Pension Industry Leadership Council’s Investment & Financial Markets Committee, where she led initiatives to deepen pension fund participation across infrastructure, private equity, private credit and other alternative asset classes. Furthermore, she chairs several advisory boards for private equity and infrastructure funds and has been a keen advocate of local capital mobilization towards financing the national infrastructure deficit. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Pension Industry Healthcare Initiative. Prior to joining Access ARM Pensions, she was the pioneer Country Manager of Allan Gray Investment Management Nigeria, where she led the firm’s entry into the Nigerian market and contributed to the growth of its Sub-Saharan Africa investment platform. Earlier in her career, she held investment management roles at ARM Investment Managers and Fidelity Management & Research (UK).

Ms. Sulaiman’s experience in managing long-term institutional capital and advancing pension fund participation across infrastructure and other alternative asset classes will provide valuable perspectives as InfraCredit continues to unlock domestic institutional participation in sustainable infrastructure investments.

Mr. Michael Nzewi is one of the founding partners and currently Group Managing Director of CardinalStone Partners Limited, a leading indigenous investment banking group licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) across investment banking, securities trading, asset management, trusteeship and registrar services. Under his leadership, CardinalStone has established itself as one of Nigeria’s leading securities firms, ranking first by volume and value traded on the Nigerian Exchange in 2022.

Prior to CardinalStone, he served as Director in the Capital Markets division of Standard Chartered Bank in London, where he led coverage for Africa. Earlier, he was the Pioneer Head of Investment Banking at Vetiva Capital Management Limited. He began his investment banking career at Stanbic IBTC Bank, where he worked on landmark capital market transactions, after starting his professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mr. Nzewi’s broad experience across capital markets brings an important market perspective as InfraCredit continues broadening the application of credit enhancement solutions to unlock long-term domestic investment in sustainable infrastructure.

The appointments come at an important stage in InfraCredit’s development, following the expansion of its domestic institutional shareholder base and the increasing participation of long-term domestic institutional investors in the Company’s ownership. They further strengthen the Board as InfraCredit continues advancing its long-term ownership vision while mobilising domestic capital for sustainable infrastructure.

Ms. Sulaiman commented, “As domestic institutional investors assume a greater role in financing Nigeria’s long-term development, institutions that create credible pathways for long-term capital to finance infrastructure become increasingly important. InfraCredit has established itself as one of those institutions. Joining the Board affords me an opportunity to contribute to the company and its mission.”

Mr. Nzewi commented, “Deep and efficient capital markets are essential to financing infrastructure at the scale required for sustainable economic growth. InfraCredit has demonstrated how credit enhancement can broaden market participation and support the development of innovative financing structures that attract long-term capital. I am pleased to join the Board and look forward to contributing to the Company’s next phase of growth.”

Speaking on the appointments, Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, Chairman, Board of Directors, InfraCredit, stated:

“I am delighted to welcome Ms. Sulaiman and Mr. Nzewi to the Board of InfraCredit. They bring complementary perspectives from two parts of the financial ecosystem that are fundamental to our mandate. Ms. Sulaiman’s leadership in institutional investment and pension fund management, together with Mr. Nzewi’s extensive experience in capital markets and investment banking, will further strengthen the Board’s strategic oversight as InfraCredit continues expanding the role of credit enhancement in mobilising domestic private capital for sustainable infrastructure and supporting the continued development of Nigeria’s debt capital markets.”

Mr. Chinua Azubike, Chief Executive Officer of InfraCredit, added:

“InfraCredit’s evolution is being shaped by three important developments: a more diversified domestic ownership base, continued growth in our core business, and an ambition to scale our credit enhancement model across African markets. The appointment of Ms. Sulaiman and Mr. Nzewi reflects this next phase of our journey.

Both bring experience from institutions that are integral to Nigeria’s long-term capital formation and investment landscape. Their appointment strengthens the alignment between our Board, our shareholder base, and the institutional investors we seek to mobilise. This will support InfraCredit’s continued growth, reinforce our domestic market leadership, and enhance our ability to create sustainable infrastructure investment opportunities across Nigeria and the wider region.”
